Critical minerals and rare earth metals are used to manufacture consumer electronics, military equipment, electric vehicle batteries, and other advanced technologies vital to America’s homeland security and economic competitiveness. China is currently the largest source for more than half of the critical minerals on the U.S. Geological Survey’s 2022 list.

Salud Carbajal (CA-24) introduced the Prison Staffing Reform Act, a bipartisan bill that directs the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to conduct a review of its staffing needs and devise a plan to fill existing vacancies. The agency faces a crisis of understaffing that endangers both staff and inmates.

The Honor Our Living Donors (HOLD) Act will allow more donors to qualify for wage, travel, and caregiver reimbursement when donating organs.
