Military & Veterans

I am proud to represent five military installations located entirely or partially in California's 23rd District. Fort Irwin National Training Center, MAGTFTC / MCAGCC Twentynine Palms, Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, and Edwards Air Force Base are all an important part of what makes our district unique.
Additionally, we have nearly 40,000 veterans in CA-23, and I am committed to ensuring they receive the care and respect they have earned through their years of service. I have a long track record of fighting for service members and veterans in the California State Assembly, and I will continue that mission in Congress. For the last several years I’ve fought to prevent the closure of the Barstow Veterans Home, and I will fight to protect veterans across California’s 23rd District. I have also had the honor to volunteer for the Veterans Airlift Command which provides free air transportation to disabled veterans. Our nations’ heroes deserve the care and benefits that they were promised – the freedoms we Americans enjoy are thanks to the dedication and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform.

The Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act will ensure that the men and women who have served have access to the modern, good care and services they have earned. Critically, this bipartisan legislation will grow job opportunities for veterans, improve the VA community care program to protect veterans’ healthcare, and reduce the red tape restricting access to disability benefits.
U.S. Reps. Mike Bost (R-IL) and Jay Obernolte (R-CA) continue their efforts to hold the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Loma Linda Healthcare System in California accountable for the inadequate discipline of VA managers at the facility.
“It appears that failures in senior leadership are directly impacting the delivery of care and services to our veterans,” Rep. Bost said on Aug. 24. “Which is why under my leadership we will take their concerns seriously.”
