U.S. Congressman Jay Obernolte (R-CA) has partnered with House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-IL) in cosponsoring H.R. 4278, the Restore Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Accountability Act, which was introduced on Friday. The bill comes in direct response to an ongoing joint investigation conducted by Rep. Obernolte and Chairman Bost into a flood of credible whistleblower reports alleging a hostile work environment at VA Loma Linda.

The words “we have a deal” echoed through the halls of Congress after 97 days of waiting for the White House to engage in negotiations, several weeks of intense talks, and decades of out-of-control government spending that had been left completely unchecked.

The final product of those negotiations was named the Fiscal Responsibility Act, a bill to raise the debt ceiling until January 2025 while enacting measures to reduce non-defense spending and shrink the deficit without raising taxes. This is the first debt ceiling increase in the last decade that achieves all of these goals.

H.R. 3340, the Granting Remaining Applications Not Treated Efficiently or Delayed (GRANTED) Act, incentivizes expeditious approval of applications to place broadband infrastructure on federal land by granting automatic approval of any application still pending following the current 270-day deadline.
