Today, Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) and Vice Chair Jay Obernolte (CA-23) celebrated President Donald Trump’s signing of three Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions to overturn California’s de facto electric vehicle (EV) mandates. Specifically, the resolutions overturn the Biden administration’s approval of California’s vehicle emissions mandates, including the Advanced Clean Cars II regulation, the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation, and the Omnibus Low-NOx Emissions rule.

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) introduced the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Whistleblower Protection Act to provide explicit whistleblower protections to those developing and deploying AI. Currently, AI companies’ restrictive severance and nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) create a chilling effect on current and former employees looking to make whistleblower disclosures to the federal government, including Congress.

U.S. Congressman Jay Obernolte (R-CA) introduced the Quantum Sandbox for Near-Term Applications Act alongside co-leads Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX), and Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC). The bill aims to increase quantum technology commercial advancement through the creation of a quantum sandbox program. This program allows government and industry partners to come together to develop and deploy quantum and quantum-hybrid applications for near-term use.

WASHINGTON, DC–U.S. Representative Jay Obernolte (CA-23) has introduced legislation to reduce the United States’ reliance on China and other foreign nations for critical minerals. Critical minerals and rare earth metals are used to manufacture consumer electronics, military equipment, electric vehicle batteries, and other advanced technologies vital to America’s homeland security and economic competitiveness. China is currently the largest source for more than half of the critical minerals on the U.S. Geological Survey’s 2022 list.

Today, Congressmen John Moolenaar, Jay Obernolte (R-CA), and Craig Goldman (R-TX) introduced the LOCOMOTIVES Act to limit the State of California's ability to place unsustainable regulations on trains crossing into the state. The legislation revises Section 209 of the Clean Air Act to close a loophole which allows the California Air Resources Board to request waivers from the Environmental Protection Agency which would require interstate trains to abide by environmental standards stricter than the federal government's.
