Rep. Obernolte announces 2021 Congressional Art Competition

U.S. Congressman Jay Obernolte (CA-08) is inviting high school students from California’s 8th District to participate in the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives host a nationwide high school art competition, offering a great opportunity to showcase the talent and creativity of our district's young artists.
“I am pleased to continue the distinguished tradition of the Congressional Art Competition. As our students struggle with continued school closures and the added pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that we provide opportunities like these for comradery, competition and creativity,” said Rep. Obernolte. “I am looking forward to seeing our students’ handiwork.”
The winner of the California’s 8th District art competition will be determined by an independent panel of judges and will have their artwork displayed as a representation of the district in the national exhibition at the United States Capitol. Second and third place submissions will be displayed in Congressman Obernolte’s Washington, DC. and District offices, respectively. Rep. Obernolte will also host a separate People’s Choice Competition on his social media platforms for constituents to vote on their favorite artwork.
Students should submit a high-resolution photo of their artwork and a completed 2021 Student Information and Release form by 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 23 to CA08.ArtComp@mail.house.gov.
